Frequently Asked
Questions

How Often Should You See the Dentist for a Regular Checkup?

Patients with healthy gums and teeth should visit the dentist twice a year for routine cleanings and checkups to maintain their oral health and catch any concerns early. Those with a history of periodontal disease may benefit from more frequent visits, typically three to four times a year, to help manage their condition and prevent progression. You should also schedule an appointment anytime you experience pain, discomfort, or notice changes in your mouth, or if you simply have questions or concerns about your dental health. At Capalbo Dental Clinic, we are here to support you, ease your worries, and provide expert care whenever you need us.

What Are Good Oral Health Practices?

Good oral health begins with consistent daily habits and regular professional care. Brushing at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and flossing daily help remove plaque, prevent cavities, and protect your gums from disease. A balanced diet, limited sugar intake, and staying hydrated also play an important role in maintaining strong teeth and healthy tissues. In addition to home care, routine dental visits allow for professional cleanings, early detection of issues, and personalized guidance tailored to your needs. By practicing good oral hygiene and keeping up with regular checkups, you can protect your smile, prevent future problems, and support your overall health for years to come.

What Happens During a Preventative Care Visit?

During a preventative care visit at Capalbo Wickford Dental Clinic, our team thoroughly evaluates your oral health to catch potential issues early and maintain your smile. The appointment typically includes a professional cleaning to remove plaque and tartar, a detailed examination of your teeth and gums, and digital X-rays if needed to check for cavities or other underlying concerns. We’ll also assess your bite, check for signs of oral disease, and provide personalized guidance on brushing, flossing, and other at-home care. Our goal is to keep your mouth healthy, prevent future problems, and ensure you leave feeling informed, comfortable, and confident in your oral health.

Do You Treat Children?

Yes, care is provided for patients of all ages, including children.

Do You Have Emergency Appointments Available?

Yes, same-day and urgent appointments are available to address dental emergencies and unexpected issues.

Do You Take Out-of-Network Insurance?

Great dental office. Went today for the first time and was very impressed! Signed up for their Colonial Plan which is pretty comprehensive coverage overall.

Probably the best experience in a dental office I have ever had. The ladies were intelligent, very friendly, and most of all competent at what they do. The dental X-rays which I deplore went off without a hitch. The next hygienist did a great job cleaning my teeth and finally the dentist herself asked and answered all the right questions. Can't wait 6 months to go by. Thank you Capalbo.

Great dental cleaning. Office was clean and delightful. Called back to schedule a follow up, and the gal on the appointment line told me I couldn't book until 15 months. It doesn't make any sense. Insurances normally cover 2 dental cleanings a year. I guess we will have to take our business elsewhere.
