History Behind Our Clinic

The Capalbo family has deep roots in both Rhode Island and the dental profession. The practice was founded in 1946 by Dr. P. Edward Capalbo after serving as a dentist during World War II, opening his first office in downtown Westerly.

In the 1970s, his sons, Dr. Brian and Dr. Ronald Capalbo, joined the practice and helped grow its reputation for trusted, patient-centered care. That legacy continued into the third generation, as Dr. Brian’s sons, Michael, Matthew, and Marcus, became Capalbo dentists and expanded the practice to additional communities, including Wickford.

Today, Capalbo Dental Group continues to build on more than 70 years of experience, blending a strong family foundation with modern techniques and advanced technology. While the practice has grown, its mission remains the same: to provide compassionate, honest care in a welcoming environment where patients are treated like family.

Meet Dr. Matthew Cabalbo, DMD

Dr. Michael Capalbo was the first of the third generation of Capalbo dentists to follow in his father and grandfather’s footsteps. Like his father and grandfather before him, “Dr. Mike’s” calming bedside manner and passion for dentistry have earned him a loyal following.

Dr. Capalbo graduated from Providence College in 2001 Magna Cum Laude and received his dental degree from The University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 2006. He attends (and sometimes teaches) continuing education classes to stay on the cutting edge of dentistry.

He’s an avid golfer, spends his spare time at Seaside Beach Club, and enjoys traveling with his family.

Dr. Mia Baker, DMD

Dr. Mia Baker is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD). While at Case Western, Dr. Baker participated in multiple academic organizations, assuming leadership roles in the Psi Omega Dental Fraternity and the American Student Dental Association.

For her undergraduate education, she attended Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA, where she was accepted into the accelerated Pre-Professional Scholars Program, earning her Bachelor of Science in Biology degree in 3 years.

Most recently, Dr. Baker earned her Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) certificate from Texas A&M College of Dentistry. She is Invisalign certified and has experience working with the latest digital technologies in dentistry. Dr. Baker enjoys working with her patients to meet mutual treatment goals and aims to make their overall outlook on dental treatment a more positive experience.

In her free time, Dr. Baker loves traveling with family and friends, and spending time outdoors, especially at the beach!

Great dental cleaning. Office was clean and delightful. Called back to schedule a follow up, and the gal on the appointment line told me I couldn't book until 15 months. It doesn't make any sense. Insurances normally cover 2 dental cleanings a year. I guess we will have to take our business elsewhere.
