Frequently Asked
Questions

How do I get to your office? Where is it located?

Our dentists in West Hartford, CT are conveniently located at 342 North Main Street, Suite 300, West Hartford, CT 06117 and easy to get to! Find directions from your location on Google Maps and visit our Map.

Will my teeth be cleaned at my first appointment?

The first adult appointment will be scheduled with a dentist rather than a hygienist at West Hartford Family Dental. This allows a comprehensive evaluation to be completed for you and to make sure you will receive the most appropriate level of care. We want to spend some time getting to know each of our dental patients here in West Hartford and understand your dental goals – so we ensure enough time to do a complete assessment and diagnosis, and answer your questions. The only exception is for children, who may be scheduled with a hygienist first.

Will I have an appointment soon?

If your schedule is flexible, we should be able to see you in our West Hartford dental office within two weeks for non-urgent new patient exams. If you have an emergency, please let us know as soon as possible – during our normal patient hours, you will be seen that day. Our West Hartford dentists are prepared to handle most emergencies during the course of the day.

How does your office keep current with modern dentistry?

Our West Hartford dentists are highly trained, but since dentistry is constantly changing, they regularly attend continuing education courses and conferences that focus on technological advances and also belong to a variety of professional organizations like the American Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry. Our dentists are familiar with the latest journal articles and research. If you have questions about a procedure or treatment that you have heard about, ask your dentist at West Hartford Family Dental – who will be happy to answer!

What is the difference between DMD and DDS?

The DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) are the same degrees. The difference is only in the initials; the education and degrees are the same. Here at West Hartford Family Dental, all of our dentists have a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
