History Behind Our Clinic

Thomaston Dental Associates was founded with a simple mission to provide exceptional dental care in a welcoming environment where patients feel treated like family. From the very beginning, our practice has focused on building long-term relationships rooted in trust, compassion, and personalized attention for every patient who walks through our doors.

As dentistry evolved, so did our commitment to innovation and patient comfort. We embraced modern dental technology, advanced treatment methods, and continuing education to ensure our patients receive efficient, comfortable, and high-quality care in a modern setting. At the same time, we have remained dedicated to preserving the compassionate and personalized approach that has always defined our practice.

Judy Lombardo, DMD

Dr. Judy Lombardo earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Arts in English from Fairfield University before receiving her DMD from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 1999, where she was honored for Outstanding Achievement in Dental Studies. After completing her general dental residency at SUNY Stony Brook, she returned home to practice in the Greater Waterbury area. Dr. Lombardo is committed to continuing education, with advanced training in restorative dentistry, full-mouth reconstruction, and dental implants. She is an active member of several professional organizations and served as the first female president of the Dental Society of Greater Waterbury (2014–2015). Dr. Lombardo lives in Middlebury with her husband, Steve, and enjoys baking, reading, playing piano, and spending time outdoors.

Dana M. Bergenfeld, DMD

Dr. Dana M. Bergenfeld joined Thomaston Dental Associates in June 2026. She earned her DDS at SUNY Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine, completed a General Practice Residency at Faxton-St. Luke's Hospital in Utica, NY, and went on to a Dental Oncology Fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center along with a LEND Graduate Certificate from the Westchester Institute for Human Development.

Her clinical focus is compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals of all ages and abilities, drawing on experience in mobile clinics, hospitals, and community health centers serving patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Outside the office, she's a certified yoga instructor who enjoys fiber arts and traveling with her husband, also a dentist.
