History Behind Our Clinic

Johnston Dental Group is proud to be part of a community where history and modern living come together. Located just minutes from the historic Clemence-Irons House, which dates back to 1691, our practice reflects that same balance of tradition and progress.

Joseph Absi, DMD

Dr. Absi earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine and went on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program through NYU Langone. After graduating in 2021, he began practicing with a strong foundation in comprehensive general dentistry, emphasizing high-quality, patient-centered care.

Dr. Absi is dedicated to helping patients feel comfortable while providing thorough, thoughtful treatment tailored to each individual’s needs. Outside of the office, he enjoys playing board games and spending time outdoors hiking with his dogs, Goliath and Willow.

Frederick Liu, DMD

Dr. Frederick Liu earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Boston University School of Dental Medicine. He went onto complete his residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Through his training Dr. Liu has developed his dental philosophy that every tooth has a story waiting to be told. He prides himself on being a practical dentist that believes in restoring teeth that require caries excavation. Dr. Liu also believes in conservative dentistry and strongly prefers nonintervention for healthy and stable dentition.

When he’s not performing dentistry, he enjoys judging cooking competition shows from the comfort of his home, chasing errant shots at the golf course, and making custom bargain-bin mugs for his team. Dr. Liu also enjoys volunteer work and mentoring to support the advancing dental community and the community at large.

Sylvia Nagy, DMD, MS

Periodontist

Dr. Sylvia Nagy is a board-certified Periodontist with over 30 years of experience in Dentistry. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Maine in Farmington then graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry (cum laude) in 1995. She served as a general dentist in the U. S. Navy for 5 years and was selected by the Navy to study Periodontics and Implant Dentistry in 2000.

Dr. Nagy completed her Periodontics and Implant Dentistry residency at Louisiana State University (LSU) in New Orleans. She also has a Master’s degree in Oral Biology from LSU, is a diplomat of the American Academy of Periodontology, and is a member of the Northeastern Society of Periodontists. She retired from the Navy in October 2017 after 22 years. Dr. Nagy is married and has five children whom she loves spending time with! She also enjoys photography, cooking, watching sports, and bowling.

Daniel Nho, DMD

Endodontist

Daniel Nho, DMD, MS, is an experienced endodontist with a diverse background in both military and civilian dentistry. He earned his bachelor's and dental degrees from Rutgers University and Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. After serving as a general dentist in the United States Navy, he completed a two-year advanced education program in Endodontics at the University of Detroit Mercy, where he earned his specialty certificate and Master of Science degree. Dr. Nho is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists.

Nikole Pham, DMD

Oral Surgeon

Dr. Pham was born and raised in Alabama, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alabama before completing her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry. She went on to complete her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Dr. Pham and her wife now call Rhode Island home, where they enjoy hiking, traveling, and exploring new restaurants together.
