History Behind Our Clinic

 

The Capalbo family has deep roots in both Rhode Island and the dental profession. The practice was founded in 1946 by Dr. P. Edward Capalbo, who served as a dentist during World War II before opening his first office in downtown Westerly.

In the 1970s, his sons, Dr. Brian and Dr. Ronald Capalbo, joined the practice and continued to grow its reputation for trusted, patient-centered care. That legacy carried into the third generation, as Dr. Brian’s sons, Michael, Matthew, and Marcus, became Capalbo dentists and helped expand the practice to serve additional communities, including Wakefield and Wickford.

Today, Capalbo Dental Group continues to build on more than 70 years of experience, combining a strong family foundation with modern techniques and advanced technology. While the practice has grown, its mission remains the same: to provide compassionate, honest care in a welcoming environment where patients feel like family.

Our Dentists

William DelGizzo, DMD

Dr. DelGizzo has practiced family and cosmetic dentistry in Cranston, Rhode Island for over 35 years. Dr. DelGizzo is a graduate of Tufts School of Dental Medicine, The University of Rhode Island and LaSalle Academy. He has held a faculty position at Tufts School of Dental Medicine for the last 20 years and is also a member of the Cranston Dental Study Club.

Ian Stelzner, DMD

Dr. Ian Stelzner specializes in restorative dentistry, cosmetic procedures like Invisalign, and advanced technologies such as CAD/CAM. Dr. Stelzner is dedicated to helping you achieve and maintain a healthy, confident smile.

Dr. Stelzner lives locally and is proud to be part of the Rhode Island community. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, cycling, traveling, and just about everything that involves the outdoors.

Gregory Warne, DDS

Endodontist

Dr. Gregory Warne is a graduate of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania with a degree in Natural Sciences. He received his dental degree from Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery. Dr. Warne provided dental care to our country’s veterans during a general practice residency at East Orange VA Medical Center. Dr. Warne received his endodontic training at Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery, Department of Endodontics.

Serving the community in health related professions has long been an interest of Dr. Warne’s. This was ingrained in him during his advancement to the rank of Eagle Scout. He completed Emergency Medical Technician training during high school while serving on both his town’s emergency squad and fire department. Dr. Warne continues community service today as an instructor for CPR, and has begun re-training as a volunteer firefighter. Dr. Warne unfortunately has more hobbies than free time. He has enjoyed rappelling and rock climbing, canoeing, and hiking. Dr. Warne also enjoys spending time around the house.

Sylvia Nagy, DMD, MS

Periodontist

Dr. Sylvia Nagy is a board-certified Periodontist with over 30 years of experience in Dentistry. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Maine in Farmington then graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry (cum laude) in 1995. She served as a general dentist in the U. S. Navy for 5 years and was selected by the Navy to study Periodontics and Implant Dentistry in 2000. Dr. Nagy completed her Periodontics and Implant Dentistry residency at Louisiana State University (LSU) in New Orleans. She also has a Master’s degree in Oral Biology from LSU, is a diplomat of the American Academy of Periodontology, and is a member of the Northeastern Society of Periodontists. She retired from the Navy in October 2017 after 22 years. Dr. Nagy is married and has five children whom she loves spending time with! She also enjoys photography, cooking, watching sports, and bowling.
