After talking with you and examining your mouth, or your child’s mouth, we may suggest you consider Invisalign for orthodontic treatment. Invisalign is a series of clear removable aligners that are custom-made to fit your mouth.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Achieving well-aligned, straight teeth is aesthetically pleasing and contributes to better oral health and comfort. Misaligned bites and crooked teeth can lead to future dental issues that may be costly and painful to address. At Ocean State Orthodontics, our expert team is proud to offer advanced Invisalign treatment — a clear and removable aligner system designed to align your teeth effectively. Custom-made to fit each patient’s unique dental structure and goals, Invisalign aligners are more comfortable and visually appealing compared to traditional metal braces. They can be easily removed for eating and cleaning, making them a convenient choice for maintaining oral hygiene. If you want to enhance your smile and achieve healthier teeth with the latest technology, schedule an appointment with our skilled Invisalign orthodontist in Wakefield or Westerly, Rhode Island, today.

Do You Have to Wear Invisalign Aligners All the Time?

Nearly invisible, the Invisalign aligners gradually and gently reposition your teeth into a straighter, more beautiful smile and work best when used consistently. While you’ll visit us periodically for check-ups, you can remove the aligners to brush, floss, and eat.

How Do I Get Invisalign?

After your Ocean State orthodontist in Wakefield, RI determines that you are a good candidate for Invisalign, you will have x-rays and impressions of your teeth made. From these x-rays and impressions, a digital 3-D image is made, allowing your orthodontist the ability to map out a treatment plan for the movement of your teeth. From these 3-D images, your custom-made aligner trays are made specifically for you. You wear them throughout the day and night, removing them only to eat and clean your teeth. Over time, the aligner trays gradually move your teeth into position.

How Long Does Invisalign Treatment Last?

Your aligner trays are replaced approximately every two weeks, advancing you to the next stage of treatment. You will also have checkups with your orthodontist every six to eight weeks to monitor the results. The length of treatment varies but usually lasts up to a year.

Invisalign FAQs

Invisalign offers several benefits over traditional braces. Firstly, the clear aligners are nearly invisible, providing a more aesthetic and discreet option for teeth straightening. They are also removable, allowing for easier cleaning of teeth and eating without restrictions. Comfort is another advantage, as the smooth plastic aligners are less likely to irritate compared to metal braces. Additionally, they typically requires fewer orthodontic visits, making it a more convenient choice for many patients.

Invisalign is suitable for many individuals, but not everyone. It is most effective for treating mild to moderate dental misalignments, such as minor crowding, spacing issues, and specific bite problems. However, severe cases of misalignment, significant bite issues, or complex orthodontic needs may require traditional braces or other orthodontic treatments. An orthodontist can determine the best course of treatment based on a comprehensive evaluation of each patient’s specific dental condition.

No, there are no dietary restrictions with Invisalign because the aligners are removable. This allows you to eat and drink whatever you like without the risk of damaging the aligners or getting food stuck in them, as can happen with traditional braces. However, brushing your teeth before putting the aligners back in is important to prevent staining and maintain oral hygiene.
