History Behind Our Clinic

Cranston Dental Associates has long been a trusted part of the Cranston community, providing patient-focused dental care to individuals and families throughout the area. Conveniently located on Budlong Road, just a short distance from its previous location near Garden City Center, the practice has continued to grow while staying committed to quality care and personal connection.

Over the years, Cranston Dental Associates has built its reputation on a simple philosophy: treat every patient like family. That commitment continues to guide the practice as it offers preventive, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry designed to support long-term oral health.

While dentistry has evolved, the values behind the practice have remained the same. Meet Dr. Judson Dacher-Shapiro, DMD

Dr. Judson Dacher-Shapiro graduated from SUNY Binghamton with honors, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Spanish. After graduation, the U.S. Navy selected him for the Health Professions Scholarship Program, providing a full scholarship to attend the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, which is now known as Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. He graduated in the top 10 percent of his class. From here, he completed his internship and residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD in 2019. During his time in training, he was fortunate to be exposed to all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, utilizing the latest technology and techniques to treat service members and their families.

He was then stationed at Naval Health Clinic Newport, RI for 4 years as the staff Oral Surgeon where he continued to practice the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His total of 9 years of Active-Duty Service providing in office, and hospital-based surgical care in the Navy provided him with unique experiences as a surgeon.

Dr. Shapiro is a Board Certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His special interests include dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants and bone grafting, treatment of oral maxillofacial pathology, orthognathic surgery, trauma surgery, and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Shapiro is committed to maintaining great relationships with his patients and fellow dentists and physicians to ensure a collaborative approach to patient care.

In his free time, he enjoys golfing, playing hockey, and exploring Rhode Island with his family.

Meet Steven Fazzini, DMD

Dr. Steven Fazzini was born in Rhode Island and is a lifelong resident of the state. He attended the University of Rhode Island, where he received a B.S. in Microbiology, graduating with honors. He then earned his D.M.D. degree from Tufts School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 1978. Dr. Fazzini has practiced for more than 40 years, most of them being in Cranston, and is adept at all phases of general dentistry.

Dr. Fazzini has been a member of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), attending both Fellowship and Mastership in that organization. He has also been a member of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) and has several national roles for the organization, including Group Benefits Council chair. Dr. Fazzini is also a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and has taken several courses at the Pankey Institute of Advanced Dental Education.

Dr. Fazzini has enjoyed years of traveling both nationally and internationally with his wife, Patti, when not at work. He is also an amateur historian and has researched the Cranston neighborhood where he practices dentistry. In his spare time, he also plays golf and the esoteric sport of Real (court) Tennis, which he enjoys at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport.

Meet Dr. Daniel Nho, DMD, MS

Daniel Nho, DMD, MS, is an experienced endodontist with a diverse background in both military and civilian dentistry. He earned his bachelor's and dental degrees from Rutgers University and Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. After serving as a general dentist in the United States Navy, he completed a two-year advanced education program in Endodontics at the University of Detroit Mercy, where he earned his specialty certificate and Master of Science degree. Dr. Nho is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists.

My experience here was very positive. Dr. Shapiro was very kind and explained everything ahead of time and during a wisdom tooth extraction. The extraction went so much better than what I was expecting. It wasn’t bad at all. Office staff and all dental assistants were very professional. He proceeded, taking the time necessary to ensure my comfort even though, as I expected, it was difficult to numb. But all went well and eventually the procedure was completed. In my opinion Dr. Nho was excellent and the staff very friendly.
