History Behind Our Clinic

Angell Street Dental Associates has been a trusted part of the Providence community for decades, providing compassionate, high-quality dental care on the East Side of the city. Conveniently located in Wayland Square, the practice has served families throughout Providence and the surrounding communities for more than 30 years, building a reputation for personalized care and lasting patient relationships.

Over the years, Angell Street Dental Associates has grown through the dedication of skilled clinicians committed to both clinical excellence and patient comfort. Dentists such as Dr. Charles Riotto helped shape the practice’s legacy, caring for patients for more than four decades before retiring in 2022 after a distinguished career in dentistry and community service.

Today, that tradition continues with an experienced dental team that blends advanced technology with a patient-focused philosophy. Dentists including Dr. Thomas DePetrillo and their colleagues provide comprehensive care ranging from preventive dentistry to restorative and cosmetic treatments, always with a focus on long-term oral health and patient comfort.

While dentistry continues to evolve, the mission at Angell Street Dental Associates remains the same: to deliver thoughtful, high-quality care in a welcoming environment where patients feel respected, comfortable, and confident in their smiles.

Meet Dr. Fady Eid, DMD

Dr. Fady Eid grew up in Lebanon and moved to the United States in 2012 to pursue his undergraduate studies. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Adelphi University and went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned both his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and a Master of Science in Education (MSEd).Dr. Eid completed his specialty training in periodontology and received his Doctor of Science in Dentistry (DScD) at Boston University. His doctoral research examined the impact of chronic inflammation induced by P. gingivalis and E. coli lipopolysaccharides on neuroinflammation and Alzheimer-like pathology. He has presented his research at both national and international conferences, including the IADR/AADOCR and the AAP, where he was named a finalist in the prestigious Balint Orban Memorial Competition.

In addition to practicing periodontics in private practice, Dr. Eid serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontology at Boston University.Outside of work, Dr. Eid enjoys reading, baking, and playing piano. He loves exploring the Greater Boston area with his husband and spending time with their two cats.

Meet Dr. Robert Gargano, DMD

Dr. Robert Gargano is a Massachusetts native and a specialist in Prosthodontics with a strong focus on digital and cosmetic dentistry. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Fairfield University, followed by a Master of Science in Oral Health Sciences from Boston University. He then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from NYU College of Dentistry and completed advanced training with a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Prosthodontics at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.

Passionate about blending cutting-edge digital technology with esthetic principles, Dr. Gargano provides customized, high-quality care. His expertise includes full-mouth rehabilitation, smile makeovers, and implant dentistry — all enhanced through the latest digital workflows.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Gargano enjoys snowboarding, golfing, traveling, and exploring new restaurants.

Thomas DePetrillo, DMD

Dr. Thomas DePetrillo is a graduate of Bishop Hendricken High School. He later received a degree in chemistry from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida. He continued his studies at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, earning a Doctorate of Medical Dentistry in 1989. Following many years of private practice in Johnston, RI, Dr. DePetrillo joined the team at Angell Street Dental in Providence, RI in 2004.

Dr. DePetrillo is committed to providing his patients with the highest level of dental care. A lifelong learner, he has attended many renowned advanced dental learning institutions across the country and studied with various experts in his field. He has had extensive training in advanced cosmetic procedures from both The Dawson Academy and The Clinical Mastery Series. He is skilled in all preventative, restorative, and cosmetic procedures and is a Preferred Provider with Invisalign. Dr. DePetrillo is also a certified provider of Botox and Xeomin for esthetic procedures as well as for TMJ and migraine therapy. Dr. DePetrillo has been selected by his peers as a RI Monthly Magazine’s “Top Doc” since 2014. He is a member of the Providence Chapter of the Seattle Study Club.

Dr. DePetrillo also donates his time to people in need through the RI Donated Dental Program and has provided free dental care to children through Christina’s Smile Children’s Dental Clinic. He also provides dental care for Veterans through a government-assisted program. Dr. DePetrillo lives in Glocester, RI with his wife, Cheryl, and daughters, Lauren, Julianna, and Jenna. He spends most of his free time practicing traditional Okinawan Karate and learning to play guitar. One of his favorite vacation spots is Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where he enjoys tasting the local tequila.
